Man I love my new gun.
Went out again today right after lunch and bagged these three squirrel within about 30 minutes.
I didn't know if they'd be out today because it was a bitter cold morning. Temps were in the upper 20s with virtually no wind at all, turns out I picked a very good time and place to go.
They were all in the same area (two in the same tree), the 20 gauge blast did not faze them much at all. One of the supposed benefits of a .22 rifle is the noise factor but in my experience the shotgun does not bother them as much as .22 aficionados would have us believe.
I was rather disappointed the hunt ended so quickly! I'll have to remember in the future to set down and just watch a while next time.
Yum! Can't wait to fry them up in the cast iron skillet.
ReplyDeleteWe've got a lot going on right now, but I need to take my stepson hunting and try out my 10/22 or my Winchester shotgun. I want to put mine in a pressure cooker to tenderize them a bit first, though.
ReplyDeleteWe've never done that. We usually fry them up. Or make dumplings.
DeleteWe did roast it in the crock pot once, but the sight of that little body kinda threw us off a bit! LOL!
