Since you are locating a handle for your newly acquired axe head, I was wondering if you know where I might find a handle for an old wooden cant-hook. We used to have a sawmill on our farm and the cant-hook is used to roll logs. The newer ones are all steel, but ours were just a metal ring clamp that fit around the wooden handle, and then then hook was attached to the bolt that held it together. The original handle is sort of like an extended bowling pin shape, about 4-feet long, with the ring fitting around the thickest part about 18 inches from the heavy end. The farm is long gone, but I still have two of these rings and hooks that I would like to restore. I had a post/business card at one time that showed a guy in (I think) Alton, MO that made handles, but I have lost the card. Maybe you know of someone who makes handles. BTW, we're in Cherokee Village, AR. Although I'm a tekky at heart, I still like the simple life stuff, Mother Earth News, TinyHouseBlog, energy efficiency, etc., but I also build web sites for a living (Azgrand dot com). I also have a site at CaravanCamperRV dot com, where I have a free book you might be interested in for those short hunting trips. I've been studying online marketing for nearly 14 years. I think I could help you make more money from your blog, if you're interested. Leave me a comment on the blog and I'll get back to you.

Hi John,
DeleteThanks for looking at the blog.
That sounds neat about your cant hooks, but I have no idea where to go for custom made wood handles. I will keep my eye out though.
As to the blog, thanks for the offer but I'm pretty happy with what I've got going now.
Be well!
